Other Details to Note

Livestock (including cattle, chickens, pigs, goats, ranch dogs Rosie and Popeye, and the guard donkey, Zoey) roam the ranch. We ask kindly that you not approach the cattle or chickens, but the rest are all very keen on head scratches and pets! The dogs may jump or bark at first but are friendly and will return to their duties after brief hello. Do not play fetch with Popeye with a stick, PLEASE! He always gets hurt. just ignore him and he'll move along! Chances are you'll see deer, armadillos, and lots of wild birds. We sometimes see other native wildlife like such as quail, turkey, coyote, feral hogs, foxes, and bobcats. There have been some rare sightings of mountain lions in the past but as long as you are aware and prepared it’s nothing to worry about. Lastly, we are in the Texas hill country where rattle snakes and copperheads live. They are easy to avoid as long as you are aware. If spotted up by a house, please contact the host so that we can safely remove them for you!

We loved the ranch house. This was our second time to stay here. I highly recommend it if you are in Glen Rose or Walnut Springs area! We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay so much! Traveling every weekend brings lots of houses. But this one was very homey and secluded which we loved! Sad we didn’t get to see the goats but we heard them lol!

The house is great and the property (High Hopes Ranch) made this the perfect Airbnb. We (a family of five w/3 adult children) took a full day to explore the trails by walking over 8 miles. The Goat Cave was fascinating. There were tracks of several large and small animals as well as fossils in the cliff wall. The trails were well marked and maintained. Passing the Farm Store we were greeted by the pigs and goats (the donkey stayed in the background). The house was very spacious and comfortable. We all slept well. The kitchen was used for making breakfast and lunch - it had all needed utensils and pots/pans. Eating on the patio was delightful in the morning sunshine. We also sat on the patio watching the shooting stars at night. The showers were great too. It was about 15 minutes to Glen Rose where we had dinner. Brandi was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. We would definitely stay again, even if it was just the two of us - but then we'd get one of the smaller rentals.

We stayed here as a family with two children (1 and 5) plus two grandparents and the house was perfect for us. It was the perfect size plus all the outdoor space was great for playing and we enjoyed hiking all the trails nearby and the kids loved getting to feed the goats. The house is a short drive to Fossil Rim and Dinosaur World so it is a great location. Everyone at High Hope made us feel welcome and we will definitely be back!

This is a great place to recharge your batteries. The surroundings are beautiful and the house is spotless and comfortable. I usually have a hard time sleeping when not in my own bed, but the beds here were very comfortable and I slept like a baby. If you are looking to get away, don't hesitate to book this place.
